William O’Mullane, Rubin Observatory Associate Director Data Management:
“Linea has been a Rubin partner for many years, we have had good discussions, poached a staff member to come work with us, and got very useful in-kind support where Rubin was lacking effort.”
Mario Juric, Director of UW’s Institute for Data-intensive Research in Astronomy and Cosmology (DiRAC)
“LIneA has made an enduring contribution to the evolution of modern survey astronomy. From pioneering rapid quality-assurance systems and science portals for DES, to playing a pivotal role in securing Brazil’s participation in LSST, to becoming early adopters — and later, key developers — of next-generation tools such as LSDB and HATS, LIneA has been at the forefront of astronomical data science for more than fifteen years. As we now enter the era of LSST, I look forward to the discoveries and innovations that the next fifteen years of collaboration with LIneA will bring.”
Melissa Graham, Rubin LSST Data Management Science Analyst e Lead Community Scientist:
“It’s been inspiring working with the LIneA team developing software infrastructure for estimating and evaluating photometric redshifts at scale for the Rubin Observatory. The team actively engages in collaborative work to the benefit of all involved, and the PZ Server product is shaping up to be a very useful tool for the scientific community. “
Aurelio Carnero Rosell, IAC, Espanha:
“I had the privilege to witness and to participate in the birth of Linea. Back in 2012 I arrived to the team after finishing my PhD in Spain. At that time, the idea of creating a Big Data center for astronomy found many difficulties. But, with the effort and perseverance of many people, finally Linea was born, serving the astronomical community with one of the most sophisticated astronomical software that exist. Likewise, it served as a catalyst for astronomy in Brazil, by facilitating the access to the most advanced astronomical data to many institutions in Brazil.
During six years, I contributed full time to the enterprise. After that, I returned to Spain but I have continued affiliated to Linea since today, because for me, it is a privilege to continue participating and interacting with my old colleagues and friends.”
George Beckett, University of Edinburgh, UK
“Everyone here in LSST:UK is looking forward to collaborating with the team at LineA on supporting astronomers to get the most out of the Vera C. Rubin Observatory. The team at LineA is always good to work with, with internationally recognised knowledge and experience, and an enthusiasm to collaborate for the greater good of science.”
Richard Kron, University of Chicago
“The depth of scientific and technical expertise present within LIneA has created powerful tools to make fast and easy associations between sets of data from the Dark Energy Survey. The power of the Brazil Portal has enabled a wide range of research by members of the Dark Energy Survey. It has been a pleasure to collaborate with LIneA for the past 15 years!”
